We are buying a new house.
No, we are not moving; Derek is. We are buying a 3 bedroom house near the university, and Derek and two friends will rent it from us. Derek will probably get a good break on the rent… 😉
I’m a little nervous buying right now, with the housing market down and all the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac problems, but hopefully the market is near a bottom, and hopefully these mortgage issues will get resolved well before we want to sell. The house is much cheaper than it would have been a couple of years ago, but much more than 5 years ago.

Recently remodeled — very new looking inside.
Grass front and back (in need of mowing and water)
No pool
I hope the neighbors don’t hate me for bringing college students onto their nice quiet street…

That’s bigger than my house. Nice deal for Derek and yeah this is probably a decent time to buy.

Note that “new” just means new to us. It was built in 1960, so it is far from new.

I guess it’s a nice deal for Derek. He was planning to rent somewhere anyway, and since we would be paying for it while he went to school anyway, we thought this would make more sense.
I’m not sure if having your Dad be your landlord is good or not…

I think three hefty college boys should probably be able to mow the lawn on a regular basis.
I’m betting the neighbors won’t mind too much. I would MUCH rather have Derek and a couple of his friends than the neighbors I have right now.
Can’t wait to see it. When do they move in?

The big question is where will Apollo live? Is there room for his dog house in the back yard?

Close of escrow should be before the end of the month. The other two boys current lease expires at the end of the month, so they are really hoping to just make one move.
Donna you can see the outside any time you want, but will have to wait until COE to come inside (unless you happen to be near there when the RE agent lets me in).
Apollo goes with Derek. The doggy door will fit in the sliding door there as well as here. The back yard isn’t quite as large as mine, but it’s OK. There’s no dog house here and won’t be there, unless they buy him one.
I plan to put mowing the lawn into the contract!

The contract also needs cleaning up after Apollo’s horse sized contributions. Are there trees in the back yard for him. You can see that I am more concerned over him than with the three humans. They know enough to take care of themselves, but I hope they never forget the four footed member

The contract WILL include cleaning up after Apollo. There are no trees, but he will be able to come inside whenever he wants.

He’s not leaving Tempe, just moving closer to the university. The new house is about 5 miles from our house, and about a mile from the University. It’s a much more convenient bike ride.

I think the landlord needs to put in a pool to keep Apollo and the boys cool!
