I’m flying to Ontario Airport in Southern California tomorrow (Saturday) to bring Devon back home. He has the Saturn, but we have to do a little work on it before it is ready for the drive across the desert (fix the air conditioner, for example). I hope we get back to Tempe by late Saturday night (or early Sunday morning).
His summer job is over, and he has about a month before classes start.
I think one more escorted trip and he should be ready to make it on his own.

We made it home, but the car’s air conditioner was out so we drove the whole way with the windows down. Fortunately it was cool and cloudy in Claremont when we started, and by the time we reached the hotter desert the sun was setting.
We still sweated a lot and are glad to be back in an air conditioned house.
Devon goes back to school at the end of August. Derek goes down to Tucson around August 17.

Wow, driving from L.A. to Phoenix in late July with no air conditioning. Sounds awful. Glad you made it safe and sound.
