Not me, but Gisele and Devon left last night for Taiwan. Devon will spend the summer there, studying Mandarin. Gisele will be there just 2 weeks.
I was thinking of going too, but Derek is going through finals and Apollo is wearing a “cone of shame”, so I have too many responsibilities here.

I heard from Gisele that they are settled into an apartment, where Devon will spend the summer.
Apollo got a minor cut on his foot, and kept licking it until it became septic. We are treating it with antibiotics, but it won’t work if he keeps licking it off.
Gisele will probably not go to France this year. However, we plan to spend a few days in Ottawa the first week of June, where I will be presenting at a Botany conference.
Who knows, maybe I’ll find an excuse to go see Devon in Taiwan this summer, though that’s a bad time to be there (hot and humid).

Gisele got back from Taiwan a couple of days ago. Devon is apparently settled in, though classes don’t start for a couple of weeks.
He sure has it better than I did when I went there 30 years ago. I didn’t know anyone and Taiwan was much more “third-world”-like. Devon has an aunt, uncle and cousin there, and is already hanging out with kids he met in the local church. Taiwan has lots of American fast food, buses are air-conditioned, and so is his apartment. Life is easy!
