I saw the surgeon last week, and he continues to be pleased with my progress, as do the physical therapists. I have full range of motion, so physical therapy is now focused on strengthening the shoulder muscles. Full strength will take about a full year, but I should be at 80% by 6 months (from date of surgery).
I can do almost anything I want that doesn’t put strain on the shoulder. No heavy lifting, no falling on that side. The best part is that the surgeon cleared me to shoot baskets, though only from close range. No 3-pointers for a while. So every evening I am out back with a basketball, trying to regain my form.
Still 2 or 3 months before I can play in a real game.

Good for you. Glad to hear about your great progress. I bet it feels good to get a basketball in your hands again. How’s your aim? Can you dribble?

Maybe you can take LeBron’s place in Miami next year. They aren’t very happy with him right now.

Are you able to ride bike?

Yes, I was approved for bike riding at 6 weeks. However, I am not allowed to fall off, so I haven’t taken Apollo out very much. I think I should heal fore first, before I take any chances.

So how is it 13 weeks out?

It will be 14 weeks by Monday.
It’s better all the time. I don’t think about it most of the time now, except when I have to lift or move something heavy. I am still very weak with some motions — like lifting my arm straight out in front of me.

When do you get to try 3 pointers again? Might take a while till you’re back to your Kerr form…

The physical therapist says I can shoot as far out as I want now, but I need to build up my strength a little more first. I’m shooting out a little beyond the free throw line, and it seems like a long way.
