We had an extreme wind storm last night, about 9:00. Trees are blown down and branches broken all over the neighborhood. Fortunately the only damage at my house was one roof tile and a few small branches (and lots of twigs). Here are some pictures.
That’s my bicycle and garage door. Fortunately the tree missed anything breakable. I don’t think the wall is hurt either, though it’s hard to tell.
This is by the community lake. This large tree fell on the park bench. Good thing no one was sitting there! The man in the picture is part of a clean-up crew.
Here’s another tree that fell partially into the lake.
This was just around the corner from our house. Most of the top of this tree came down.
This tree’s roots were under the sidewalk, and when it fell it ripped up a couple of slabs of concrete.

WOW! Any idea what speed the wind hit? Makes you wonder what it’s like to be in a hurricane or tornado I bet.

Unfortunately I haven’t put my weather station back up since Apollo chewed up the wires a year ago.
The weather service reported 60 MPH about a mile away from here, but I suspect it was higher right here.

Wow! Did you get rain with the storm or just wind?

It rained hard for a few minutes, as it often does with summer thunderstorms, but I doubt that we got more than 1/4 inch or so.

We had just a gentle shower about 8:00 or 8:30 PM. I wouldn’t have known it was raining until I saw a few drops of water on my living room window.
Isn’t the first picture about where Derek parked?

Derek parked up on the driveway where the bicycle is. His car wouldn’t have been smashed.
I didn’t post the picture, but a couple of 3″ branches fell from the trees in front of the house, and would have dented any car parked on the street, where people often do park.

That is quite shocking! I am glad no one was hurt. Those look like strong well rooted trees. We lose them in our neighborhood often, but we haven’t been here as long as your neighborhood has been around.
