A couple of days ago, Bill O’Reilly (Fox) talked about the Palin daughter’s pregnancy, saying: “It is a personal matter… It is true some Americans will judge Sarah Palin’s family… We hope things calm down,”
A reasonable position.
But back in December, talking about Brittany Spears’ 16-year old sister’s pregnancy, he said, “…the blame falls primarily on the girl’s parents.” And he has a picture of the parents with the word “Pinheads” underneath. Wasn’t this a “personal matter” too?
See it here.

Boy, you just never know what’s going to come back to bite you, do you?

That was a shorter piece of this, which has a couple of other hilarious position changes, including a whopper by Karl Rove about Sarah Palin’s experience.

Well obviously there’s a huge difference between a 16 year old and a 17 year old! 😉

I’m surprised you fell for this Daryl. You should have known it was made up of a bunch of clips and that’s not what Oreilly said if you listen to everything in those 2 sets. Comedy Central made that kind of like a kidnapper makes a ransom not out of newpaper letters.

Where are the originals so I can see them?

It’s obvious watching that they cut out a lot. But it’s not so obvious to me that they changed the meaning, either for Rove or O’Reilly.

I don’t know about the Rove one.

Do you suppose Jon Daily will put Palin’s and Obama’s clips about lipstick side by side on his next show?

I heard about Obama’s comment. I thought it was pretty funny, but some have been crying “sexist”.
I think since Palin brought up lipstick first it was fair game.

Interestingly, McCain and Obama have both recently used the expression:
Mr. Obama last year said President George W. Bush’s troop surge in Iraq was an effort to “put lipstick on a pig.” McCain, in October 2007, used the phrase to describe former Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton’s plans for universal health care.
“I don’t like to use this term, but the latest proposal I see is putting lipstick on a pig,” Mr. McCain said.
To suggest that suddenly we can’t use this popular expression, just because there is a woman in the race, sounds sexist to me. It didn’t stop McCain last year.

Yes, I don’t think the lipstick comment by Obama yesterday was meant toward Palin, but it sure made a dangerous clip that the McCain campaign pounced on. And it forced Obama to pause his campaign message to explain, defend and counter-attack. I’m sure that was the intent, and Jon Stewart could be bragging about giving them the idea.
Ah, how I hate politics!
