Devon found an apartment in Pasadena, so Gisele and I (and Derek? He hasn’t decided yet!) are leaving for California this (Friday) morning to take a load of his stuff over and help him move in over the weekend.
We hope to be back on Monday.

We got home last night, after a long weekend shopping in Ikea, driving stuff around, lugging it upstairs and assembling it. On one trip I fit a sofa, bed frame, mattress and headboard all in the van.
The new apartment is nice. It’s probably a little less than 1000 sq ft — maybe closer to 800. One bedroom, second floor, small apartment building with 10 units total.
He’s still figuring out all that’s involved when you live alone — arranging with the electric, gas, cable, and telephone companies (if he gets a phone), furnishing the place, dishes, silverware, towels, soap, all that stuff.

Is this the apartment building his friend lives in? How close is it to his work?

This is indeed the same building that his friend is in, 4 doors down.
It’s about a 5 minute drive to his work.

And now he will have to find a laundry, and do his own washing and drying, and his mom won’t be there to iron his underwear. (Maybe he learned at Harvey Mudd.) I can’t make myself believe that he is as old as I was when I was married!
