{"id":267,"date":"2010-10-12T11:30:33","date_gmt":"2010-10-12T18:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/daryllafferty.com\/blog\/2010\/10\/12\/high-sierra\/"},"modified":"2010-10-12T11:30:33","modified_gmt":"2010-10-12T18:30:33","slug":"high-sierra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/daryllafferty.com\/blog\/2010\/10\/12\/high-sierra\/","title":{"rendered":"High Sierra"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dale, Karen and I got back yesterday from a 4-day, 45-mile hike in the Sierra Nevada mountains in California, in Kings Canyon National Park.<\/p>\n<p>It is essentially the same hike that <a href=\"http:\/\/daryllafferty.com\/Backpacking_files\/backpacking.html\">Devon, Derek and I took in 2003<\/a>, with a few differences.<\/p>\n<p>It was a difficult, exhausting and exhilarating adventure.  Dale had a minor battle with altitude sickness, and both he and I were nursing non-optimal knees, but the views from the heights made it worthwhile.
