I crashed my quadricopter today. Got too close to a tree and bumped it. It spun out of control and fell to the ground.
The damage was minimal, but it became harder to control. Then I tried a software update which “bricked” it — rendered it completely unresponsive. I have contacted the company and it looks like they may repair the software update problem for free. Hopefully that will also repair the stability problem. But it looks like no more playing for a while.
I was capturing video when it crashed. Maybe I’ll put it online.

Oh no! That always sucks when you break a toy.

Mama is always sorry when her children break a new toy. I’m sorry, but I won’t be able to buy a replacement. Your toys have become too expensive in the last 50 years.

As Richard is well aware, people who play with RC aircraft are always repairing them and buying replacement parts. It happened earlier than I anticipated, and I hope it doesn’t happen too often, but I accept it as a trade-off against the fun.

True. I think I’ve spent nearly as much on repair parts as on the helicopter originally. But then, it only cost $30.

I found the only way to save the money is to put the toy on the shelf and admire how nicely it looks. 😉

Just shipped it back to the manufacturer for warranty repair. Will take a week to get there, probably a week to repair, then a week to get back. I guess I can forget about playing with it for a while.
